Rathdowney Resources begins drilling zinc-lead targets at Irish Midlands Ore Field

Rathdowney Resources (CVE:RTH) said Monday it has started diamond drilling on the first of 45 zinc-lead mineral targets, located in the Irish Midlands Ore Field in southern Ireland.
Drilling began with one rig operating on the company's Mallow property, a 337 square kilometre area south of the Pallas Green district, where major zinc-lead discoveries have been made by mining companies Teck and Xstrata.
Rathdowney said that two additional rigs will be added to test other priority targets within the Mallow project area, as well as at the Westmeath South property.
Over the past two years, the company has conducted soil geochemical sampling and airborne geophysical surveys over its ground in the Irish Midlands, and established 45 drill-ready targets. An initial 15,000 metres of exploration drilling is planned to test these areas.
Rathdowney is focused on finding and developing base metal deposits in the ore fields of Poland and Ireland.
