PLD Corporation begins Rocky Gully nickel search in Fraser Range
PLD Corporation (ASX: PLD) has commenced phase two of nickel-copper exploration with
soil sampling and drilling over 8 targets at Rocky Gully in Western
Australia’s Fraser Range.
The Rocky Gully Project covers 1,200 square kilometres and is being explored for Magmatic Nickel Copper Deposits, similar to Sirius Resources' (ASX: SIR) Nova-Bollinger deposit of 14 million tonnes at 2.2% nickel and 0.9% copper.
Nova is located to the northwest of Rocky Gully and in similar geological terrain.
Samples from exploration will be analysed using a handheld XRF for immediate evaluation and assayed for a multi-element suite including nickel, copper and PGEs.
Additionally, a regional soil sampling program at seven priority targets has also commenced.
PLD is now awaiting approval of a Program of Works with the WA Department of Mines and Petroleum for a drilling program where 1,500 metres of reverse circulation has been designed to extend anomalous nickel sulphides, and test an electromagnetic conductor into fresh bedrock.
A contract is currently being negotiated with drillers, and approval of the POW and commencement of drilling is anticipated during the June Quarter.
The Company will release results as they become available.
Earlier this month, PLD identified 12 new structural gold targets along 70 kilometre strike at Rocky Gully, in a similar geological setting to the 6.4 million ounce Tropicana Gold Project.
The company is lightly valued at $2 million.
